The New Jersey Cooperator's Condo, HOA & Co-op Expo

In a return engagement, The New Jersey Cooperator magazine and Yale Robbins,  Inc. invite all property managers, HOA board members, and unit owners to the  New Jersey Condo, HOA & Co-op Expo, a one-day trade show event on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 from 11:30  a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The 2010 Expo will again take over the Meadowlands Exposition  Center at 355 Plaza Drive in Secaucus with booths, seminars, and demonstrations  all day long.

Since its launch two years ago, the New Jersey Expo has quickly established  itself as a unique event that addresses the diverse, evolving needs of the  Garden State's condo and HOA community. This year, there will be over 200  exhibitors offering assistance and expert advice in the areas of building  management, maintenance, insurance, security, energy and countless other  services. Attendees will also be able to choose from among an exciting roster  of seminars covering an array of topics of great interest to condo owners and  administrators alike.

In two short years, the Expo has grown, attracting larger and larger numbers of  attendees. The 2009 Expo brought board members, residents, and managers from  hundreds of HOAs throughout the metro area. And that's to say nothing of the  numbers of other real estate professionals and service providers who are make  the Expo an annual pilgrimage.

 Interacting with Professionals

One of the biggest draws of The New Jersey Cooperator’s Condo, HOA & Co-op Expo is that it's really more than just a trade show. The event offers  educational opportunities as well as a chance for various members of the  residential real estate community to interact and network with HOA and condo  board members, residents, vendors and service providers from across many  diverse industries and disciplines.

The 2010 Expo will feature a wide array of information and educational  opportunities for participants, including scores of booths and several free  seminars sponsored by established industry professionals, covering the kinds of  topics that boards, managers, and building residents are most eager to discuss.  These seminars are perhaps one of the day’s most popular features, and routinely attract standing-room-only audiences.

This year’s seminar sponsors include perennial favorites Stark & Stark, who will present “Legal and Legislative Update: Important Decisions, New Laws, and How They Impact  Your HOA,” regarding current legal and legislative precedents; “Landscaping for Year-Round Beauty,” featuring a panel of landscaping professionals, who will examine planting and  maintenance schedules for HOAs and discuss various seasonal landscaping  elements; “Manager Performance: Evaluating, Cooperating, Improving,” which asks the question of an expert panel, “What makes a good property manager?” and a panel sponsored by National Condo Advisors, LLC, which will look at the  FHA and new construction condominium loan approval process.

Each seminar at this year’s Expo will run around an hour in length, giving you enough time between talks  to check out the booths on the exhibit floor and enjoy the show’s other attractions.

 More to Come!

There will be plenty of other exciting activities to partake in at the Expo  throughout the day. A new attraction is the Reserve Fund prize giveaway,  courtesy of The New Jersey Cooperator and Yale Robbins, Inc. One attendee will  win a $2,500 contribution to their building's reserve fund. The winner will be  drawn at random after registration has closed, and a check for the winnings  will be made payable to the winner’s building care of their management company. Only board members qualify to enter  the reserve fund drawing, and attendance at the Expo is required for  eligibility. For complete details on how to enter the reserve fund drawing, go  online at www.nj-expo.com.

Not all freebies are tangible, of course. If you have questions about how your  board should hold meetings, or about your association’s finances, policies, or day-to-day management, you can stop by one of the Expo’s free advice booths for answers. The booths are staffed throughout the day by  legal, management, building and financial professionals ready to answer your  questions, off the clock and on the house. For guests needing nourishment or  access to e-mail, be sure to drop by the conveniently-located food court and  cyber-cafe.

  • Thank you for the answer that I have been loonikg for, I own a Condo, in a community where there are many rentals, however more homeowners, I have been here for 2 yrs, recently I have been having problems with the Vice President of the Board, she has become an advocate for the renters, and whenever they have a complaint their leasing agent sends them to her, and when I attend the meetings she comes up against me, and protects the Tenant, and makes me feel like I don't even own here. I have complained about certain tenants that have been using our fitness center to bring in people from outside and train them for gain, they do charge, her son is one of them. A new tenant just moved in, and she has complained about me to her leasing mgr, and in turn she sent her to this Board member, at our meeting yesterday, the Board member came up against me because of me telling this tenant about how she could not nail anything unless she asked the Board. I need help with this because this Board member is totally out of control. I will be taking this information to the next Board meeting.
